CNCI Achiever of Industrial Excellence - 2003

The Ceylon National Chamber of Industries (CNCI) will reward industrialists and businessmen who have contributed to the development of industry. The CNCI will hold its Annual Awards Ceremony on July 12 at the Trans Asia Hotel. Entries for the competition closed on May 20. "This year we have received a record number of entries in all categories from all corners of Sri Lanka.

This endorses the success of our first ever awards ceremony held in July last year. Several non-members have applied this year too, and this alone is proof of the transparency adopted by the CNCI in its selection," the organisers said.

Entries for the Special Award - Sri Lankan Industry operating in a SAARC country with a Sri Lankan majority (over 50%) ownership AND having a Sri Lankan either as its CEO or General Manager have increased this year.

Last year's winners have applied this year too. This is evidence of the benefits and publicity they have received after winning awards last year.

"We have on our Panel of Judges, distinguished personalities, who will have the Herculean Task of evaluating and selecting the winners.

The Awards Ceremony is the most prestigious and memorable event in the Chamber calendar, and will be a glittering business and social event," the organisers said. The CNCI Achiever of Industrial Excellence would be recognised and honoured by the CNCI. The Awards are categorised as follows:

Sri Lankan National Award Four categories Large, Medium, Small and Micro. For each category there will be a Gold, Silver, Bronze and two Merit Awards.

Provincial Award Three categories Medium, Small and Micro. For each category there will be a Gold, Silver, Bronze and two Merit Awards. Outstanding applications for the Provincial Award will also be considered for the Sri Lankan National Award.

SAARC Country Award A Gold Award for the winner in each SAARC country in the Large or Medium category. The winner will be nominated by the respective Federation/Association in each country in the SAARC Region.

Short listed applicants will be visited and audited by auditors nominated for this purpose.

To create an atmosphere for building better business relationships within countries in the SAARC Region, SAARC Country winners will be arriving with business delegations.
