New SLIM President to take marketing to all regions Prof. K.U. Kamalgoda, the new President of the Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM) has plans to make SLIM a truly national body by taking the concept of Marketing to all the regions of Sri Lanka, where Small and Medium Scale Entrepreneurs can reap tremendous benefits by embracing the marketing concept. This will help the Sri Lankan economy to be strong and robust, he said. Participating actively in national issues and contributing to National Policy making is another area, the professor is focusing on. In this regard, SLIM has already had preliminary discussions with several state institutions, to bring about a marketing orientation to the public sector. Prof. Kamalgoda also serves on the Board of the Open University of Sri Lanka, University of Colombo, University of Sabaragamuwa and functions as a Visiting Professor to the University of Sri Jayawardenepura and the University of Colombo. He has published numerous journals and is a Supervisor for Masters and Ph.D. level thesis and dissertations. He has been involved in the development of Corporate Plans for a number of institutions. He is at present the Managing Director and CEO of the State Pharmaceuticals Corporation of Sri Lanka.
