SME sector optimistic about Lankan market

The Made in India show in Colombo organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has invited Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to explore new business opportunities in Sri Lanka. The level of confidence is so high that companies are in the process of finalising dealerships even before the conclusion of the show.

A number of companies from the SME segment participated in the Made in India show in the Enterprise India pavilion at the BMICH. Due to globalisation and the high level of competition, companies have started exploring new markets outside India and Sri Lanka is a potential market for Indian SMEs.

Products ranging from telecom equipment, analytical instruments, professional grade switches, embedded software, Oil extracting machinery for coconuts, industrial gears and gear boxes, couplings, thermoware, acoustic enclosures, diesel generators, Industrial tiles, Pad Printing machines were on display at the exhibition among others.

Some of the companies which participated in the Enterprise India included Accord Communications; Deekay Gears; Elico Limited; Katni Tile Works, Infotech and Southern Agro Engines among others.
