Special Religious Programme to bless SARS patients

The outbreak of SARS is causing much concern in the world. It has already appeared in countries like China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan and Canada, and feared further spread of the disease. It need not say that most people are much worried about it, as already a large number of people have died.

It has already disrupted the international travelling. Because of this unpleasant situation, Sri Lanka Dharma Chakra Child Foundation, Kalutara, Sri Lanka, has made arrangements to invoke blessings for those who are affected by SARS.

Thirty venerable members from the Maha Sangha have been invited to chant the well-known Paritta Discourse known as the Ratana Sutta under the shade of the historic Peace Pagoda at Bandaragama at 9.00 a.m. on May 24, 2003. This Ratana Sutta (Gem Sutta) according to Buddhist History has been preached by the Buddha himself at India to dispel the three dangers of famine, evil spirits and epidemic.

This religious programme is organized under the instruction of Ven. Bodagama Chandima Nayaka Maha Thera the Chief Sanghanayaka of Taiwan.

All are welcome to participate in this religious function and extend the good thoughts for the speedy recovery of patients affected by SARS.

May the Triple Gem Bless you all! States Ven. Pallewala Sarada, Secretary, Sri Lanka Dharma Chakra Child Foundation, Sri Lanka, in a press release.
