by Manjula Fernando The Examinations Department after consulting the Education Minister Dr.Karunasena Kodituwakku has decided to postpone the remaining GCE AL examination papers to May 31 and June 1 due to slowly receding floods in the three provinces. Earlier, the papers scheduled for 19 and 20 were postponed to May 24 and 25 after five districts in Western, Southern and Sabaragamuwa Provinces were submerged in the worst floods to hit the country after 56 years. Yesterday's decision was taken considering the crisis situation in the submerged areas. Meanwhile an Education Ministry spokesman said the Ministry hopes to make alternative arrangements for candidates who would be unable to be present for the examination on these days, either to allow them to sit for a fresh paper or sit for the particular papers the next year. |
