by Parliament Correspondents Parliament sittings were confined to half an hour yesterday with party leaders deciding to adjourn business of the House due to the flood situation in the country. Leader of the House W. J. M. Lokubandara moved the adjournment soon after oral questions were over. At the Party Leaders' meeting the Government had requested that the House be adjourned since many MPs on both sides were in their respective electorates helping the flood victims. The PA held its parliament group meeting afterwards where MPs decided to go to the flood affected areas and help the victims. At the outset, JVP Parliament Group Leader Wimal Weerawansa made a special statement regarding the current peace process. |
