Iqbal, Addalaichenai special correspondent Under the development projects conducted by the Ministry of Eastern Development islandwide, the villages which come under the purview of Addalaichenai Divisional Secretariat area will be developed at a cost of Rs. 10 million. The fund to implement this scheme has been allocated by the Minister of Ports Development, Shipping, Eastern Development and Muslim Religious Affairs, Rauff Hakeem, the Co-ordinating Secretary to Minister Rauff Hakeem, the Council Member of the South Eastern University of Sri Lanka and the Secretary of the Bar Association of Akkaraipattu, S.L.A. Rasheed told the "Daily News". According to Rasheed, under this development scheme, the arrangements are under way to develop Addalaichenai, Alankulam, Sambunagar, Oluvil, Palamunai and Sinna Palamunai villages. Priority will be provided in the fields of infrastructure facilities and drainage schemes which are the long felt needs of these areas. In this context, a sum of Rs. 10 lakhs has been allocated to complete the continuation work of the Addalaichenai Iqrah Vidyalaya and about Rs. 5 lakhs was set aside to finalise the Addalaichenai Pradeshiya Sabha building. Under this scheme measures are being taken to renovate the Meelad Monument, put up a fully fledged pavilion in the public playground and drainage in the low-lying areas in these villages. Apart from this scheme, reconstruction of internal roads and providing electricity supply to the needy persons are also being undertaken, Rasheed said. |
