by Bharatha Malawaraarachchi The National Lotteries Board yesterday handed over a sum of Rs 410 million to the Government's Consolidated Fund as the Board's contribution to the Treasury. The contribution was handed over to the Deputy Secretary of the Treasury N. Pathmanathan by the Board's Chairman Imithiaz Ismail at a ceremony held at the Board's head office. Addressing the media before the presentation, Board's Chairman Ismail said the NLB was happy to take part in the country's development process contributing in many ways over the years. He said during the last few years, the Board has shown good performance." We have achieved our objectives to a greater extent while immensely contributing to the country's forward march," Ismail said. He said, while Board's revenue has increased, contribution to the Government's Consolidated Fund had gone up and at the same time, prize money awarded has been increased. " For this year, our projected amount for the Consolidated Fund will be around Rs 1.3 billion while the projected revenue is estimated around Rs 6.2 billion." Ismail said that the Board had supported the Government and people during crisis situations such as the recent flood by making available necessary funds. Deputy Secretary to the Treasury Pathmanathan commended the achievements of the Chairman and Board's staff. " The contribution made by the NLB is utilised for the country's development and for the benefit of the public." |
