by Jayantha Sri Nissanka Another earthslip at Pothupitiya in Kalawana completely wiped out a village killing over 25 persons on Sunday night. "The entire village was caught in the earthslip. There is no access to the area", District Secretary Malani Premaratne told the Daily News. Only a few bodies of the victims have been recovered so far. Survivors had informed officials that there were 25 families living in the village. A massive crack on the Ratnapura-Kalawana road had brought transport to a total standstill. |
