CIM focus on Chartered Marketers The Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) (UK), is focusing on the "Chartered Marketer" status, as the peak of a professional marketing practitioner's career. 'Chartered Marketer symbolises the ultimate goal of a practising professional marketer and his commitment to Continuous Professional Development. According to Mike Johnston. CIM's International Chairman, the newly formed policy unit of CIM is focusing on the marketer's contribution to wealth creation and shareholder value. This reflects a significant shift in thinking and CIM Sri Lanka is gearing themselves to take up this challenge. Lasantha Wickremasooriya, Chairman, CIM Sri Lanka said "Looking at all the changes taking place around us, it is time that we took CIM to greater heights in the commercial world of this country, and that is by moving the CIM profession beyond that of the functional marketing manager. The vanguard of CIM is its Chartered Marketers and in Sri Lanka we have 119 of them. CIM Sri Lanka has identified the key objectives towards this as, increasing the awareness of the Chartered Marketer status among the corporate community and gaining recognition for the Chartered Marketer in the organisation from a strategic perspective and beyond the functionality of marketing. CIM Sri Lanka will conduct a forum where the current Chartered Marketers are expected to map out the strategy in the new direction. |
