Everything is beautiful in Sri Lanka, says French Mayors Assn. President

"Yours is a very beautiful country where everything is nice and beautiful and the people are very friendly and helpful. We will come back very soon with our families and friends," said the President of the Mayors Association in France Dr. Pierre Ludin.

He said this when he made a brief address at the dinner hosted by the Chairman of the Connaissance de Ceylan Limited C. Wickremasinghe at the Le Kandyan Resorts, Kandy, in which 100 past Mayors from France and their wives were present on May 14. Also gracing the occasion were Minister of Tourism Gamini Lokuge, Minister of Central Region Development Tissa Attanayake, Mayor of Kandy Kesara Senanayake, Deputy Mayor, Kandy L. B. Aluwihare, Immediate Past Mayor of Kandy Harindranath Dunuwille, Mayor of Kurunegala Nimal Chandrasena de Silva, Secretary to the Ministry of Tourism Dr. Ramanujan, Chairman, Ceylon Tourist Board Paddy Withana, Patricia Wickremasinghe and many others.

Dr. Pierre Ludin said we are taken up with the beauty of your country and the attractions it has to offer and it is certainly an excellent tourist destination, and a tourist dream.

We were at Dambulla for a few days and it has many attractions to offer. We will certainly come back to your beautiful country and it is nice to be here."

The distinguished visitors who were all past Mayors in various cities in France and members of an organisation called "Federation Nationale Des Assocations - D'Anciens Maries Et Adjoints De France" (FNAMAF) were hosted to dinner followed by cultural shows and fire walking display to give the visitors a taste of what Sri Lanka has to offer to tourists.
