LTTE meets TNA MPs

The LTTE has emphasised the need for establishing firm administrative, financial and other structures with adequate powers for the reconstruction of the North-East before their participation at the Tokyo Aid Conference.

During the meeting with Tamil National Alliance MPs in Kilinochchi, LTTE Political Wing leader S.P. Thamil Selvan has emphasised their firm commitment to the pursuit of a negotiated political solution to the Tamil national question.

Parliamentary group leader of the TNA R. Sampanthan and the head of the TNA delegation to Kilinochchi said yesterday that the LTTE will also extend its fullest cooperation to the furtherance of the peace process. The LTTE political leadership has pointed out that the Sub Committee for Immediate Humanitarian Rehabilitation Needs has not fulfilled the reconstruction process of the North East and the rehabilitation and restoration of civilian life in the North-East.

"The LTTE, therefore, is of the view that before its participation at the Tokyo Aid Conference currently fixed for June 9 and 10, these administrative, financial and other structures, with adequate powers, need to be established in order to reconstruct the North-East and to rehabilitate and restore normal civilian life in the North-East."
