Kenwood teams up with Hayleys Consumer

Kenwood, a world-renowned British brand of home appliances has teamed up with Hayleys Consumer Products Ltd., (HCPL) to offer Sri Lankans a wider choice in premium quality appliances including food preparation equipment, a company press release said.

The appointment of Hayleys Consumer as the sole agent for Kenwood appliances in Sri Lanka will initially see the introduction of 20 different appliances, including the Kenwood kitchen machines known as the Kenwood Chef, food processors, microwaves, rice cookers, toasters, blenders, jug kettles, dry and steam irons and vacuum cleaners, the release said.

The agency for Kenwood was previously held by St. Anthony's Consolidated Ltd. Commenting on the company's appointment as sole agent for Kenwood, Hayleys Consumer Director Rizvi Zaheed said "This new alliance will further enhance our portfolio of top international brands and significantly enhance our product range.

Kenwood is a brand which has won the hearts and the respect of culinary enthusiasts the world over, and these products will now be available through our extensive islandwide dealer network with the Hayleys guarantee and professional after sales service," he said.

Kenwood's Regional Sales Director Mark Broad said "Today's consumers seek products which make life easier, save time in the kitchen, look stylish and perform consistently. Kenwood is committed to continuously improving existing products. "Kenwood appliances have remained on the top of the buyers' list of electrical appliances for decades.

Five of UK's top selling food processors were Kenwood models," Broad said.

"With space at a premium in modern kitchens, our products are compact and retain the salient features of our traditional appliances," he said.

Established in 1947 in London by Kenneth Wood the Kenwood range now comprises over 200 small electrical appliances.

The company's lead product, the Kenwood Chef kitchen machine sells over 185,000 units annually, the company said.

Kenwood was the first European producer to introduce steam irons and the microwave ovens to the market.

"An analysis on customer satisfaction has indicated that Kenwood has the lowest product return rates in the industry," Broad said.
