Sri J'pura Kotte FL in their first encounter against Dehiwela/Mt. Lavinia league won 3-2 in a penalty shoot out in the knockout tournament conducted by the Football Federation played at Moragasmulla playground recently in the inter-league championship.

After a lapse of 10 years as a paper league the new office bearers under the guidance of B. U. Ranjith Cooray, Mayor of Kotte as President, general secretary veteran sports promoter Telesphor Dias and coach Rohan Wickramaratne assisted by J. W. Nihal helped the budding soccerites into forming a formidable outfit after assuming office recently.

Success in their first encounter had given the youngsters encouragement to meet the city of Football League on May 17. All clubs attached to the Kotte Football League are requested to send their application for membership for the year 2003/2004 tournament to be conducted in May.

New clubs from Kotte, Kaduwela, Kolonnawa, Kesbewa and Maharagama can enrol themselves as new members. Under-19 knockout Mayors Cup Championship tournaments will be conducted while schools under-13, 15, 19 will be in programme to develop a youth project planned to be implemented by the F.L.
