Report to be handed over today The report of Lt. General Sathis Nambiar on the High Security Zones in the North East will be handed over to the Government today. Lt. General Nambiar prior to the meeting with Defence Minister Tilak Marapana told the media that he tried to understand the concerns of the Security Forces in the High Security Zones when compiling his report. How this issue affects the pursuance of the ceasefire has also been considered when compiling the report, he added. General Nambiar thanked the Sri Lankan government for seeking his assistance in settling high security zones issue. The former Vice Chief of Naval Staff of the Indian Navy P.J. Jacob also arrived in the country to advice the Government to settle matters related to sea security matters. Both Nambiar and Jacob had discussions with Defence Minister Tilak Marapana, Defence Secretary Austin Fernando and the three Armed Forces Commanders at the Defence Ministry yesterday. |
