Dimbula Athletic & Cricket Club will conduct its annual inter-plantation seven a side rugby tournament for the Gramozone Trophy at the Radella grounds. Nanu oya on Saturday - April 26 commencing at 8.30 a.m.

Former Dimbula and Upcountry rugby captain Tuan Dole said that this tournament which has grown over the years has revived the interest in rugby in the plantations. This tournament will be once again played for the CIC Gramozone Trophy and CIC has come forward to sponsor this tournament once again.

Chairman of the CIC B.R.L. Fernando will be the Chief Guest while Jith Gunaratne CEO Kahawatte Plantations will be the Guest of Honour along with P.H.A. Dias and many others.

Kelani Valley Plantations are the defending champions and will strive hard to retain the trophy while last year's runners-up Maskeliya Plantations will make a determined attempt to win the plum.

The Plantations teams which have entered this tournament are: Kelani Valley Plantations, Maskeliya Plantations, Kotagala Plantations, Kegalle Plantations, Udapussellawa Plantations, Malwatte Valley Plantations, Balangoda Plantations, Madulsima Plantations, Kahawatte Plantations, Bogowantalawa Plantations, Watawala Plantations, Talawakelle Plantations, Wayamba Plantations and Namunukula Plantations.

According to Tuan Dole the Radella grounds is in top condition after the recent development work which included filling up certain sections of the ground and planting of grass where necessary and this has made this venue more picturesque.

The afternoon showers experienced at Radella has helped the rich growth of grass and the ground is soft which will make the grounds conducive to exciting rugby.
