by Sarath Malalasekera The Employees' Trust Fund Board (ETFB) has introduced several benefit schemes for the benefit of the members. Asoki Wickramasinghe, Manageress-Benefit Administration Section said that on the direction of ETFB Chairman Dinesh Weerakkody, they have introduced nine schemes mainly for the benefit of the members of the ETFB. They are - Free Life Insurance, Permanent Disability Insurance, Financial Assistance for Heart Surgery, Reimbursement of the cost of intra-ocular lens implanted following Cataract surgery, Financial awards for members' children passing the Year Five Scholarship Examination with merit, Hospitalisation Medical Insurance Scheme ('Shramasuwa Rekawarana'), Low interest Housing Loans ('Viyana Housing Loan Scheme'), 'Danuma' -Professional and Higher Education loan and Discount Cards. In order qualify for the benefits under the above benefit schemes it is a requirement to submit the perfected claim within a specified period of time. Ms. Wickramasinghe said that those who wish to avail themselves of these benefits should submit their claims within a specific period. Life Insurance-within an year of the death. Permanent Disablement Insurance-within six months of the event or accident. Heart Surgery-within 30 days from the date of surgery in Sri Lanka. If Surgery done abroad within 60 days. Intra Ocular Lenses-to be submitted within 60 days from the surgery. Year Five Scholarship awards- ETF Board will invite applications through newspaper notices. Hospitalisation Medical Insurance Scheme- within 30 days from the date of discharged from the hospital. |
