Another chance for Arnold Russell Arnold who failed in the first 2-day game against the touring New Zealanders has been given another opportunity to press his claims for a place in the first Test squad when he was appointed to lead a Sri Lanka 'A' team in the second two-day match against the tourists starting at the NCC grounds today. Arnold made only four before edging a catch behind the wicket. Tillakaratne Dilshan who was also out for a similar score and Michael Van Dort who made 25, have also been given another opportunity by the national selectors. Mahela Jayawardene who bounced back into form with a century and Romesh Kaluwitharana who made a half-century and shared a century stand with Jayawardene have been rested from this game along with a few others. Two notable inclusions are leg-spinning all-rounder Upul Chandana and wicket-keeper Prasanna Jayawardene. This will be New Zealand's final warm-up match before the two-Test series commences on Friday. The Sri Lanka 'A' team (from): Russell Arnold (captain), Ian Daniel, Michael van Dort, Tillakaratne Dilshan, Naveed Nawaz, Anushka Polonowita, Sahan Wijeratne, Prasanna Jayawardene, Upul Chandana, Thilina Thushara, Tharanga Lakshitha, Nandika Ranjith. |
