Soldier missing

A soldier attached to the Kokkutuduvai Army camp of the 224 Brigade in Welioya is reported missing since Saturday. LTTE radio transmissions intercepted by the Army has confirmed that the missing soldier is under LTTE custody, Army sources said yesterday.

According to Brigadier Sanath Karunaratne private G.W. Piyasena of Dhamoruva, Colombagamauva, Nivitigala was on duty at a sentry point on the Welioya, Forward Defence Line (FDL) when he was reported missing on Saturday around 10.30 am.

The soldiers was in his uniform and had left his personnel weapon near the sentry point. The Army has made a complaint in this regard with the Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission.
