PM seeks to turn N'Eliya into top tourist attraction

Nuwara Eliya group corr.

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe's prime concern is to give top priority to develop three cities as tourist attractions, - Nuwara Eliya Castlereigh and Kotamale.

He emphasised that the Nuwara Eliya golf links and Lake Gregory should be major tourist attractions, he told Nuwara Eliya Mayor, Chandana Karunaratne and Nuwara Eliya District UNP Organiser, Krishnaswamy Vivekanandan.The Prime Minister appreciated the work that has been done by the Nuwara Eliya Municipal Council within the city and particularly during the festival season here after his recent visit to N'Eliya.

The Prime Minister requested that all major projects such as Lake Gregory, the Dun Bungalow and Galway Sanctuary be done in consultation with the premier and requested the Mayor of Nuwara Eliya to proceed with other development work. Prime Minister Wickremesinghe who spent a few days in this resort went round the city limits accompanied by the Mayor and exchanged views with the public.

He spent an hour at the Nuwara Eliya Golf Club and expressed his happiness over the superb maintenance of this 110 year old club and exchanged his views with the Secretary of the club, Clive Tissera, a veteran planter.
