UN official at Tokyo aid conference

UN Secretary General Koffi Annan has agreed to appoint a senior official to represent the World Body at the special conference pledging development aid for Sri Lanka to be held in Tokyo in June.

President meets Indian leaders

In the course of an official three-day visit to New Delhi from April 7 to 10. President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga met a number of Indian political leaders including the Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee, the Deputy Prime Minister L.K. Advani, Minister of External Affairs Yaswant Sinha, Minister of Finance Jaswant Singh, Leader of the Opposition Srimati Sonia Gandhi and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalitha.
