A big bonanza in the offing

The SriLankan Airlines "Governors Cup", the biggest and the most glittering event in the Sri Lanka racing calendar scheduled to be run on New Year's Day at the Picturesque Race Course at Nuwara Eliya will witness the best horses taking part so to are the cream of riding talent from India and Sri Lanka spearheaded by none other than India's top flight jockey Aslam Khader who is called the pocket sized dynamite.

He has over 1000 winners, a feat equally by eleven other jockeys in India over the last 100 years. He is a delight to watch and comes to ride exclusively for the Monaro Stables.

The Sri Lanka Turf Club has got a fine agenda that includes a Fashion Extravaganza in contrasting styles with the reminiscence of the Royal Ascot, the bygone era and reflecting to the present era.

The idea was conceived by Ms Mave Martinstine and will be executed with great aplomb by fashion Guru of Sri Lanka, Kirthsiri Karunaratne. The best-dressed men and women will be awarded prizes. All in all a great day in prospect.
