Minister confirms Kaluperuma as Chairman

Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Johnston Fernando yesterday appointed former Sri Lanka Test all-rounder Lalith Kaluperuma as Chairman of Selectors.

Kaluperuma, who played in Sri Lanka's inaugural Test in 1982, was recommended by the Interim Committee of the BCCSL to succeed former wicket-keeper, batsman Guy de Alwis, who resigned after last month's World Cup debacle.

Minister Fernando has also instructed the BCCSL Interim Committee to recommend another member to the selection panel, which only has four members as Kaluperuma served as a member before elevation. The other members of the present national selection committee are Aravinda de Silva, Roger Wijesuriya and Ashley de Silva, all former Sri Lanka Test cricketers. - (D.W.)
