Sathosa Retail goes Online Sathosa Retail Ltd signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the French Internet Service Provider 'In Terre Net' to host the 'Sathosa On Line Shopping Mall' at no cost to Sathosa. This follows the Projects Department of the Ministry of Commerce had with 'In Terre Net'. The company also hosts their own Internet Shopping site where a wide range of household goods, furniture and boats are sold via the internet. It is a user-friendly site and anyone could update their own 'shop' from their individual computers. Dario Angella who visited Sri Lanka at few months ago with the FSLBC (Franco Sri Lanka Business Council) group, led by Tima Lazarus and Johny Sore, the International Mission Director of the CGPME (Small and Medium Industries of the Rhone Region) met Minister of Commerce and Consumer Affairs Ravi Karunanayake at the Ministry. Impressed by the dynamism of the Minister, the group had planned to exhibit their products at the recently concluded IMEXPRO 2003 exhibition organised by the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce. During this period, In Terre Net signed the Memorandum of Understanding with Sathosa Retail Ltd to handle the complete solution of hosting the Web Site free, watched by Minister Karunanayake, the Trade Commissioner of the French Embassy in Sri Lanka Francis Chaume, Commercial Attache of the French Embassy, Hilary Wijesinghe, other delegates of FSLBC, Sathosa officials and the Ministry staff. This service would be provided abroad for foreigners and to the many Sri Lankans living overseas to purchase any item online which is sold at the Sathosa Supermarkets. A prospective customer would be able to select an item by clicking on the photograph of that item which is displayed on the computer. |
