Lanka's key products and services for EU market

A workshop on "Key Products and Services of Sri Lanka for the EU Market and Marketing Recommendations: Organic Agriculture, IT Services and Tourism" will be held on March 27 from 8.30 am to 12.30 pm at the Galadari Hotel.

The objective of the workshop is to assist local businesses from the organic agriculture, IT services and tourism sectors identify opportunities in the European Union, specifically Germany and formulate effective marketing strategies. The workshop will identify the strengths and weaknesses of the Sri Lankan product and services potential for EU markets. It will also identify the opportunities of Sri Lanka to market products and services strategically, customer-oriented and professionally within the EU.

The workshop is targeted at CEOs, business development and marketing directors of manufacturing, exporting companies and others who wish to venture into these lucrative sectors. This interactive workshop will also include group work on the different sectors. The workshop consultant Wilja Witcombe who has been nominated by the Sri Lanka - German PSP Project, an experienced business manager and consultant with a broad range of experiences from the software, financial, manufacturing and retail sectors.

Her consultancy works which spans over ten years includes "strategic selling" and "account relationship management", evaluating market potential and positioning of new products, developing new sales and marketing concepts and strategies, establishing strategic business partners and business opportunities. Witcombe recently concluded a study which has identified the organic agriculture, IT and tourism sectors as being under the most promising areas for investment and co-operation between Sri Lanka and the EU.

It is being organised by the Sri Lanka - German Private Sector Promotion Project (GTZ) and the European Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka (ECCSL).
