Negombo YSC still in lead

Negombo Youth Sports Club with a clear nine point lead heads the Premier League Soccer Championship for the year 2002/2003.

Negombo team has so far completed 23 games winning 17 matches, losing three and drew the same number to collect 54 points.

During the middle of the tournament Police SC who are lying second in the table took the top position but when they lost to Army SC they were pushed down.

Meanwhile Police with two victories managed to occupy the top slot and they maintain the lead upto the present stage. Police have collected a total of 45 points.

Negombo team is left with three more games are sure to clinch the title. Police SC yet to play four games could create an upset. Saunders SC the defending champions are placed at the sixth slot with 34 points from 22 games.

They managed to win only 9 games out of this number.

The other leading team from Colombo Ratnam SC too failed to produce the expected class this year during the championship.

They too have played 22 matches from which they collected 38 points and are placed fourth. Navy SC with 40 points from 22 games occupy the third position. Air Force and Army are sixth and tenth positions with 35 and 25 points respectively.
