Jiffrey Abdeen - Kandy South Group Correspondent Kirkoswald Group, Bogowantalawa continued its run of top prices and high quality teas when it sold a line of Pekoe 1 at the record price of Rs. 630 per kilogramme at the tea auctions held on March 5 according to the report released by Forbes and Walkers Limited. Kirkoswald Group managed by Madulsima Plantations Limited and a member of the Stassen Group of companies by selling this types of tea for Rs. 630 broke its own record of Rs. 440 per kg. set up at the auctions held on 5th February, 2003. Thus this estate has improved this all time record for this grade of tea or the for the Western High Grown region by a wide margin of Rs. 190. Two other all time record prices were also set by the Mahagastotte Group. Nanu Oya, managed by Kelani Valley Plantations Limited and a member of the Dipped Product Group (DPG). First this Estate sold a line of Liquoring Nuwara Eliya Pekoe 1 for Rs. 515 and later sold another line of Nuwara Eliya Flowery Broken Orange Pekoe for Rs. 515 per kilogramme. |
