Five days of horse racing in Nuwara-Eliya The Nuwara-Eliya horse race meet for April holiday season will commence on April 6 and conclude on April 26 at the race track which was developed recently. Races will be held on April 6, 10, 14, 19 and 26 respectively. The Governor's Cup which is the biggest event during this season is scheduled to be run on April 14 is sponsored by SriLankan Airlines. Few Indian horse owners have consented to compete in this event along with local horses. According to Sri Lanka Turb Club officials many foreign jockeys are expected to compete here during the whole season for local stables in addition jockeys riding for Indian owners. SLTC have invited racing fans from various countries to attend this meet which could be of immense value to develop tourism. This years meet will be added with a Ascot fashion show to attract more holidaymakers to the venue: all in all five days of top class racing fare is assured for the holidaymakers visiting Nuwara-Eliya (Little London) during this season.
