by Sarath Malalasekera The two young Thai men who were arrested with gems worth Rs.1.3 million in their stomachs by the Customs the Bandaranaike International Airport were released after they paid the fine imposed by the Customs. The Customs authorities took them into custody when they attempted to leave the country with several precious stones in their stomachs. On information received by the Customs, a team led by Assistant Superintendent P.K. Wimalasuriya detained the two Thai men at the BIA and obtained two X-rays. The X-trays showed they were carrying coloured gem stones stuffed in condoms in their stomachs after swallowing them at the Airport premises. |
