Lankan umpires receive a colourful felicitation A colourful felicitation ceremony was held on 30th January last at the auditorium of the P. Saravanamuttu International Cricket Stadium in Colombo for senior cricket umpires. It was a historic evening as this was the first occasion in the annals of Sri Lankan cricket where our senior retired umpires, while still living, were fondly remembered and warmly appreciated in recognition of long service and high achievement, marked and distinguished by national recognition as a senior test match and or one-day international panel umpire. This excellent initiative was taken by Janashakthi Insurance Company Limited under the leadership of its Managing Director C.T.A. Schaffter, in sponsoring and organising such an event with much foresight. the sixteen umpires were presented each with a named engraved 'Gold Medal of Excellence" and a 'Certificate of High Merit'. |
