Two teenaged girls escaped from the LTTE training camp.

Two teenaged girls forcibly conscripted by the LTTE have sought protection from the military after escaping from a 100 strong Tiger 'baby brigade' training camp in Tirukkovil in eastern Batticaloa on Thursday.

According to military sources, the two girls aged 15 and 16 years of Valachchenai had been abducted on December 8, while on their way home and allegedly removed to a LTTE women's training camp at Tirukkovil. The girl's who sought protection from the Military camp at Valachchenai had claimed that about 100 children in the age group 10-17 were being trained under two female Tiger leaders in the camp.

The girls were handed over to the Police who were expected to inform the Sri lanka Monitoring Mission about the incident.

Meanwhile an LTTE cadre and a civilian wanted in connection with an alleged extortion attempt in Mannar were arrested by the police at Uyilankulam on Wednesday.

Meanwhile naval troops in Mannar have reported an increase in Indian fishing trawlers poaching in Sri Lankan waters in the sea to the West of Talimannarand off Kachchativu.
