Maersk Logistics meets US Customs' new requirements

Copenhagen - Maersk Logistics has successfully transmitted manifest data in the US Customs Automated Manifest System (AMS), 20 days prior to US Customs' date of enforcement deadline effective February 2. Maersk Logistics' first transmission to the AMS occurred on January 14.

Maersk Logistics is one of the first to be certified by the US Customs to transmit manifest data into the Automated Manifest System.

Being AMS certified enables Maersk Logistics to offer important benefits to clients such as the pre-screening of manifest information eliminates or reduces fines or rejects, the transmission of accurate data ensures cargo is loaded onto US bound vessels on time and in compliance with the US Customs standards and the commitment to data quality enables clients to obtain Customs release without delay when receiving co-loading in the US.

President of Maersk Logistics Inc. Anthony A. Chiarello said: "Comprehensive testing and data analysis was completed prior to participating in AMS. Getting it right the first time meets both the needs of our clients and the US Customs anti-terrorism program.

Our successful AMS filing abilities come shortly after our C-TPAT certification. We are proud to be in the forefront, working with US Customs, to reach this milestone."
