SEC appointments not finalised - Choksy New appointments to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Board have not been finalised yet, Finance Minister K.N. Choksy told the Daily News yesterday. "As the appointing authority, it is indeed important that I screen the prospective candidates very carefully and I also have to seek their willingness," he said. He said that he has accepted the resignations of former Chairman Michael Mack, Director General, Dr. Dayanath Jayasuriya and Commissioner, Hemaka Amerasuriya on Monday and added that he has not yet looked at the names of the prospective candidates yet. Meawhile, Consultant to the Central Bank on Financial Sector Reforms Dr. Wickrema Weerasooria denied that he had been approached for the appointnment as the next SEC Chairman. "I will not accept a full-time appointment in such a capacity at this stage," he said. (RL) |
