SriLankan wins human resource management award

SriLankan Airlines emerged overall National runner-up in the first ever National Human Resource Management competition, which was organised by the Institute of Personnel Management, Sri Lanka, the Association of Human Resource Professionals, and the Postgraduate Institute of Management of the University of Sri Jayewardanapura. Forty-seven companies were considered, and the judges visited 23 shortlisted companies before choosing the winners.

"We at SriLankan are very much aware of the vital role of an efficient workforce and sound HR management practices in making the Company more dynamic and goal-oriented", said Chief Executive Officer Peter Hill.

"This has stood us in good stead in handling the post September 11 environment which caused a crisis in the international aviation industry and the July 2001 disaster".

"This is an extremely prestigious award for our Company, as it is a recognition of the complete transformation of human resource management practices at SriLankan Airlines over the last few years.
