The ceremonial laying of foundation stones for the proposed Dasa Sil Mata Training Centre to be set up with Chinese aid at the Vidyalankara Pirivena grounds, Peliyagoda, Kelaniya will be held on January 24 at 9 a.m. under the patronage of Ven. Welamitiyawe Kusaladhamma, Chief Sanghanayake Thera of Colombo and Chilaw Districts. Buddhasasana, Justice, Law Reform and National Integration Minister W. J. M. Lokubandara and Chinese Ambassador Jiang Qin Zheng will be the chief guests. A communique from the Ministry of Buddhasasana, Justice, Law Reform and National Integration said the Training Centre known as the Dasa Sil Mata Sravaka Peetaya will ensure the future well-being and preservation of the Order of Dasa Sil Matas by offering them a proper and systematic training. Minister Lokubandara addressing this year's convention of Dasa Sil Matas highlighted the need to protect and nurture this order which filled the void created by the total decline of the Bhikkuni Sasana in Sri Lanka. The Chinese Government has agreed to fund this project as a mark of respect for Bhikkuni 'Devasara' of Sri Lanka who helped establish the Bhikkuni Sasana in China many decades ago. |
