by Asanga Warnakulasuriya Thalangama Police yesterday used tear gas to disperse volunteer teachers who tried to break into the Education Ministry at Battaramulla. North Central volunteer teachers who had been protesting in front of Isurupaya for 122 days tried to enter the premises forcibly through the front gate at around 1.00 pm yesterday, Thalangama Police OIC Ajith Gunarathne told the Daily News. No one was injured though six people were admitted to hospital after police used tear gas, Volunteer Teachers Union patron, Ven. Unagollawe Seelananda Thera said. |
