Shun political differences in development -Attanayake by Sigiriya group correspondent Minister of Central Region Development Tissa Attanayake said political differences or any other controversies should not be involved in the task of developing the country became it is purely a national task. He was addressing a series of public meetings at Rabawewa, Medawachchiya and Poonawa where several infrastructure rural development schemes were commissioned. Renovation of rural roads, constructing of bridges, water schemes, and electrical installations were the new projects. They will cost about Rs. 20 lakhs and benefit 3000 families. He also said "These are the fruits of peace. For over 17 years we have suffered a lot. Border areas have not developed and the people in these areas have become poverty striken. The UNF rule under the leadership of the Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe makes a great effort in ending this brutal war and bringing in peace and prosperity." Minister Attanayake also said political party differences breed ill will. The Government gives budgetary allocation of Rs. 50 lakhs to MPs including those in the opposition to do whatever work their constituency need. This is done on the advice of the Prime Minister Wickremesinghe. Anuradhapura District MP W. B. Ekanayake that Tissa Attanayake's involvement in improving the lot of the people of the NCP demonstrates the Government policy of helping the victims of the war. |
