SLARDAR Championship 2003 The SLARDAR Championship 2003 will be conducted by the Sri Lanka Association of Racing Drivers and Riders for the second consecutive year. The first championship which attracted a lot of interest among the drivers and riders was a total success. This is year too the championship will consist of five categories namely F/ Ford 1600, super car event, standard cars over 12 kg HP motorcross bikes up to 125 cc and motorcycle racing (2 stroke up to 250 cc and four stroke up to 600 cc). To add more colour to the championship and to give the competitors more prominence at all mass start events they will run two races. Points will be awarded for both races. Last year's F/ Ford champion Rohan de Silva, Super car champion Dinesh Deheragoda, Stock car champion Shalutha Adasuriya, Motor cross champion Nalin Perera, Tarmac champion Damien Gunathilake will defend their titles. With the blessings of the Sri Lanka Air Force the first round of the championship will be held at the Katukurunda race track on February 9, 2003 for which the organisers have obtained permission from the newly formed governing body SLAMS and the motorcycle federation. Entries for the events are open at SLARDAR office 128, High Level Road, Nugegoda. Last date to enter will be 24th January, 2003, 5 p.m. |
