Eksath Sinhala Maha Sabha appeals to UN Secretary General

The Eksath Sinhala Maha Sabha has appealed to UN Secretary General Koffi Annan to get the UN to declare the LTTE Suicide Bombing squads as weapons of mass destruction

In an open letter to the UN Chief, ahead of his scheduled arrival in Sri Lanka ESMS President - Dr. Nath Amarakone has also called on the UN to declare groups using or training Suicide Bombing squads as enemies of mankind.It seeks the support of the world body to get the LTTE to renounce the Suicide Squads or face being outlawed by the world community.

The letter also stated:

"We understand from the local media that you are scheduled to visit Sri Lanka shortly. While we warmly welcome your visit to our country, we are deeply interested in getting this visit to be an eye opener to the rest of the world to pin point of the Weapon of Mass Destruction used by terrorists of which the LTTE as the founders of the art of Mass Destruction through trained Suicide Bombers.

We take this opportunity to keep you informed of the destruction caused to our country by the Suicide Bombers trained by LTTE. They have targeted the Prime Minister of India Rajiv Gandhi, two Presidents of Sri Lanka, Ranasinghe Premadasa and Mrs. Chandrika Kumaratunga, a Presidential candidate Gamini Dissanayake, leaders of Democratic Tamil parties, Amirthalingam, Umma Maheswaran, thousands of innocent people and many assets of the country including, ships, aeroplanes, trains, the Central Bank building, Telecommunication Head Quarters, the International Airport at Katunayake, the Central Bus Stand in Colombo, the Sacred Tooth Temple at Kandy, the Sri Maha Bodhi at Anuradhapura etc.

One year after the so called Peace negotiations have commenced in Sri Lanka under facilitators of the Norwegian Government, V. Prabhakaran, the leader of LTTE, has declared that they would continue with the training of Suicide Squads as a part of their weapons of Mass Destruction. In fact his Suicide Squad was on display at a mass rally in Killinochchi on December 26, 2002 when Prabhakaran addressed his followers, naming them as their heroes.

We take this opportunity Sir, to prevail upon you use your good office to get the United Nations to declare the Suicide Bombing Squads as a weapon of mass destruction, declare those groups using or training Suicide Bombing squads as enemies of mankind and seek the support of the world body to get the LTTE to renounce the Suicide Squads or face being outlawed by the world community.
