by Sarath Malalasekera The Sri Lanka Police ushered in the New Year by conducting an overnight 'Pirith' ceremony at the Police Headquarters, Colombo recently. At the instance of Inspector General of Police T. E. Anandarajah the "Pinkama" which took place after a lapse of five years was organised by Chief Inspector Kasthuriratne, HQI Police Headquarters under the patronage of Deputy Inspector General of Police, Jayantha Wickremaratne. The anusasanas were delivered by Ven. Dr. Bellanwila Wimalarathana Nayake Thera of Bellanwila Rajamahaviharaya and Ven. Ittademaliye Indrasara Thera, the Chief Incumbent of Sambodhi Viharaya, Fort, Colombo. The rank and file of the Police including Senior DIGs, Chandra Fernando, Gamini Randeni, Jayatissa Herath, DIGs, Jayantha Wickremaratne, Bodhi Liyanage, Punya de Silva, Gamini Navaratne, Senior SPs, Kingsley Ekanayake and SP Ranjith Gunasekera also participated. |
