The French warship 'Marne' is visiting Colombo on a courtesy call from January 17 to 21. It first moored in the Maldives from the 11th to the 15th. The ship's captain is Lieutenant-Commander Pierre-Henri Favreau. The 'Marne' is 158 meters in length and 22 meters in width, with a displacement of over 18,000 tonnes. It has a crew of 177 including 13 officers. It is the flagship for the French fleet in the Indian Ocean maritime zone. Maritime Lanka Ltd. is acting as ship handler for this call, a media release from the French Embassy stated. The Commander-in-chief of the Indian Ocean maritime zone for the French Navy, Rear-Admiral Richard Wilmot-Roussel, will also be on board with his staff. |
