Police clueless on grenade blast

by Asanga Warnakulasuriya

The cause of Wednesday's grenade blast which killed six was yet to be identified by the Police since no one survived the blast to give evidence, Eppawela Police said yesterday.

Eppawela Police are clueless on how the grenade got into the abandoned school premises where the boys were playing.

Police are investigating whether an army deserter had left the grenade at the abandoned school premises since there were several previous incidents reported. Police are investigating how 52 year old D. Francis was killed in the blast.

It was suspected that the boys had found the grenade while playing and had informed an adult.
