'Creative Grave Yard' awards for rejected ads For the first time the SLIM Awards Committee has decided to honour and reward advertisements created by the agencies which have been rejected by their clients. This novel concept which has received a positive response from the agencies has been titled 'The Creative Grave Yard' and the committee has decided to present three awards for this category. This concept will be sponsored by ICI Dulux, the Strategic partner for SLIM Awards 2003. The chairperson of the SLIM Awards Committee, Tusitha Kumarakulasingham said that many creative masterpieces are rejected by the clients for different reasons. "When this happens the creative team in an agency considers it a big loss. They compare this loss with a loss of a dear one. Thus the 'creative graveyard' will allow the great creative teams of all agencies to pay tribute to the loss of outstanding creative work that did not get past the client," she said. "At the 'Creative graveyard' the wasted magnificence of the brilliant creativity will be duly respected, so that such creativity may depart from this cruel world in one final shimmering blaze of glory. Acceptance to the graveyard will be only on condition that the 'body' is accompanied by a valid mass death certificate," she said She said that this death certificate (document) will include the following, the name of the relative submitting the certificate, the name of the Agency, no of bodies for burial (Number of submissions) Details of each burial, name and description of deceased (name of campaign) details of family members as per the obituary (the creative team) and the cause of death. (The reason for rejection) The three brilliant creating amongst the dead will be selected by the mystery ghosts (judges) whilst floating through the graveyard, thus the family members who toiled and inspired the birth of the best of the deceased will be glorified. "Be ready for another novel experience when the burial takes place on March 1 2003 at the awards ceremony." The rejected creations will be on display at the entrance. SS |
