Lehmann goes scot free Elmo Rodrigopulle reporting from Australia Australian batsman Darren Lehmann got away scot free thanks to the leniency shown by the Sri Lankan team management. Lehmann who was run out for 38 in the VB series match at Brisbane on Wednesday made a remark 'You black b------s' directed at the Sri Lankan players. Sri Lankan team manager Ajith Jayasekera reported this incident to ICC match referee Clive Lloyd, but stopped short of allowing Lloyd from handing out the full punishment to Lehmann. Had Lloyd imposed the maximum punishment Lehmann would have been suspended for eight matches which would have ruled him out of a good part of the World Cup starting next month in South Africa. Thanks to the Sri Lankan management's leniency Lehmann got away with only a reprimand. |
