by A.H.M. Farook

The newly formed Common Front of Muslim parliamentarians which met for the second time at the parliamentary complex last Monday unanimously decided to meet SLMC Leader and Minister Rauff Hakeem to ascertain the developments in the peace talks held recently in Thailand.

This Front has also decided to meet the President, Prime Minister and also the Norwegian Envoy in Sri Lanka with regard to increasing demands among Muslim political circles for independent Muslim participation at future peace talks.

Vanni Development Minister Noordeen Mashoor who presided over the meeting expressed his serious concern over non-accommodation of Muslim participation at proper level in the peace talks held on all previous occasions.

He reiterated that Muslim participation should be at an independent level at future peace talks.

Ten Muslim parliamentarians representing UNP, SLMC, NUA and Athaula faction participated at this discussion. NUA parliamentarian and former deputy minister M.L.A.M. Hisbulla has been appointed as the Secretary of the Front.
