The All Ceylon Hindu Congress in a Thai Pongal message states: "A peaceful atmosphere has dawned after two decades for the Tamil speaking people to peacefully live in this country. We believe in the saying that a right path will be paved with the advent of the auspicious month of January. On this basis the people expect that many more paths will be paved for the benefits of this Holy Day to fulfil the wishes of our people. We pray to His Almighty Shri Sivakamisamedha Shri Nadarajaperuman on this Holy Day for the benefit of the people. This is a day when we offer our thanks to the Sun god who enlightens the whole world. The people are not yet free from the grievances they had been suffering for several years. A large number of people have not yet returned to their homes to resume their normal life. The people who are affected in numerous ways are still in need of relief and assistance. The All Ceylon Hindu Congress continues its social service in the way of running free hostels to needy children and running an Elders' Home at Ratmalana and assisting other similar centres. Further we have extended our service in providing assistance to youngsters to continue their education and donating free exercise books to needy students and rendering humanitarian assistance. Sun not only shines itself by his energy power but it brightens the world. Likewise whose who have wealth should not enjoy themselves but should help others. This is our message to our Tamil Brothers," the message states. |
