Yasushi Akashi, Representative of the Government of Japan will arrive in Sri Lanka today on a four day visit. This is to follow up his initial mission in November, last year a release from the Japanese embassy stated. During his stay in Colombo, Akashi is scheduled to meet President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, Foreign Minister Tyronne Fernando, Constitutional Affairs Minister G. L. Peiris, Economic Reform, Science and Technology Minister Milinda Moragoda, Opposition Leader Mahinda Rajapakse and representatives of international organisations and diplomatic missions. Akashi will also visit Kilinochchi, Hambantota and Matara. He is scheduled to attend the Sub Committee on Immediate Humanitarian and Rehabilitation Needs in the North and East in Kilinochchi and to meet with Southern Region Development Minister Ananda Kularatne, MPs elected in the South, and religious representatives while in Hambantota and Matara. |
