SLICL nets Rs. 26.8 m on Life Premia on Jan 1 Sri Lanka Insurance Corporation Limited (SLICL) organised a special incentive scheme for field officers to maximise premium income on January 1. Thus the year 2003 dawned with the participation of internal staff and the field officers at rituals conducted at the Head Office and in branches islandwide where field officers introduced new life business making their contribution to maximise premium income on January 1. The total premium collection of this day exceeded Rs. 60 million of which the Life new business premium income amounted to Rs. 26.8 million. It is an increase of 66.3% over January 1, 2002. This performance could be mainly attributed to the ongoing peace process where the country's economic activities have been stimulated, a company release said. The Kurunegala region has achieved the highest life new business premium income of Rs. 5.9 million registering an increase of 123% over the last year. The Jaffna region has contributed a premium income of Rs. 1.5 million, an increase of 416% when compared to last year. It is evident that economic activities in Jaffna have taken a positive trend and shows a greater potential in the future. The Jaffna branch has been in existence for four decades providing an uninterrupted service to the public in Jaffna. This unprecedented performance on January 1, 2003 is mainly due to the confidence placed on SLICL. SLICL has taken positive steps to provide a better service to its clients in the future, the release said. |
