The total premium collection of this day exceeded Rs. 60 million of which the Life new business premium income amounted to Rs. 26.8 million. It is an increase of 66.3% over January 1, 2002. This performance could be mainly attributed to the ongoing peace process where the country's economic activities have been stimulated, a company release said.

The Kurunegala region has achieved the highest life new business premium income of Rs. 5.9 million registering an increase of 123% over the last year.

The Jaffna region has contributed a premium income of Rs. 1.5 million, an increase of 416% when compared to last year. It is evident that economic activities in Jaffna have taken a positive trend and shows a greater potential in the future.

This unprecedented performance on January 1, 2003 is mainly due to the confidence placed on SLICL. SLICL has taken positive steps to provide a better service to its clients in the future, the release said.
