by Nadira Gunatilleke A 45 year old pastor of Christian religious Sect has been taken into custody in connection with a child abuse case during a joint operation launched by The National Child Protection Authority (NCPA) and the special police unit of the NCPA. According to NCPA sources, the suspect had come to Mount Lavinia by his private vehicle and stayed at a lodge. Earlier he had made arrangements to bring an under-age male child to his lodge to engage in abnormal sexual acts. His plan was to lodge with the child in the morning and then attend to a wedding in the evening. The suspect who was born at Colombo was a resident at Lewella, Kandy. He is married to a foreigner and is a father of three. He was produced before the Mount Lavinia Magistrate and remanded. |
