President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga has written to IGP T. E. Anandaraja calling for the immidiate release of the necessary police officers to attend to the functions of the Special Presidential Commission appointed to probe the raid on the Army Deep Penetration Unit at Athurugiriya Millennium Park. In her letter, the President had told the IGP that the delay in the release of the police personnel by him had proved a stumbling block for the effective functioning of the Commission, the President's House said in a statement. The Commission was appointed by President on the 16th of August last year and a Report was expected within three months according to the statement issued by Presidential Media Director Janadasa Peiris. |
